Officers from the Charles County Sheriff's Office were called shortly before 1 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 9 to the 12500 block of Mattawoman Drive in Waldorf, where there was a report of a shooting that had just taken place.
According to a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office, the initial investigation determined that the victim was involved in a verbal altercation inside a seafood restaurant in the area, which escalated and spilled out into the parking lot.
During the ensuing fight, an unidentified suspect pulled out a gun and shot his victim several times before fleeing in a vehicle, officials say.
The victim - whose name or age has not been released by the sheriff’s office - was transported to an area hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries following the shooting, according to the spokesperson.
It remains under investigation.
